Hand Tied Bouquet Course (2 days)

Hand Tieds in 2 days...

During the early 1980, in The Netherlands a few ‘brave-hearts’ amongst the florists started to bind their bouquets with the Spiral or Hay-stack method. It was an alternative to the then conventional and general accepted parallel binding method. Up till then, the parallel method was used to bind bridal, sympathy and presentation bouquets. The Hay-stack or Spiral technique involved angling the stems of the materials in the same direction as they are being brought into the bouquet around the hand. This technique did have many added advantages as it allows for easy addition or extraction of materials as well as corrections during the binding process.

The Hay-stack method definitely caught on very quickly. It now has become the No.1 seller for bouquet-works in the country. It is a technique which still fascinates both visitors and the Dutch themselves as they watch transfixed as the florist with speed and dexterity literally turn and bind a bouquet as they wait. And sometimes, not a small bouquet in the bargain.
